Free calculator for contractors

How much can your business borrow?

What you'll see

  • Line of credit: what a lender may advance against your receivables.
  • Debt service coverage (DSCR): how many times your operating profit covers your loan payments, against the 1.25x many lenders look for.
  • In the full report: the term loan your profit could support, your bonding range, your three biggest gaps and a lender checklist.

How the estimates work

Line of credit. Many lenders advance about 75-80% of receivables under 90 days, excluding retainage, on a borrowing-base line of credit.

Debt service coverage (DSCR). Operating profit divided by a year of loan, lease and line of credit payments. Many commercial lenders look for 1.25x or more.

Term loan. The payments your profit could carry while keeping coverage at 1.25x, turned into a loan amount at the rate and term you choose.

Bonding. Many sureties start from about 10 to 20 times working capital for a total bonding program, then adjust for your history, financial statements and the work itself.

These are general rules of thumb, not a credit opinion, lending offer or surety decision. Every lender and surety makes its own review.
